The film chronicles the life of the singer and songwriter, Cole Porter (Kevin Klein), who wrote some of the most famous musicals of the twentieth century such as High Society and Kiss Me Kate. The film is based around a musical being prepared to celebrate the composer’s life, interspersing scenes from the composer’s life with scenes from the musical stage, featuring some of Porter’s best known songs. The film focuses on Porter’s love life, who despite being married to a beautiful woman, Linda Lee Thomas (Ashley Judd) is thought to have bisexual leanings. Linda is used to ignoring her husbands affairs, as long as he is discreet, as their relationship is far more intimate and important than any casual thing. However she begins to become disillusioned by her husband’s philandering, and the marriage begins to break down.
