The movie revolves around Gary Shaller (Martin Freeman) who was earlier a pop star and presently he writes jingles for commercial purpose. He is very depressed as his life is going nowhere. His career is in very bad shape and his urge for achieving something in life is in vain. His suffering increases as he sees his friend Paul (Simon Pegg) progressing each day. His personal life is also as bad as his professional life. Gary’s wife Dora (Gwyneth Paltrow) is making him mad and their relationship is struggling every day. However his life takes a turn and he meets Anna (Penelope Cruz). she is refreshingly beautiful and witty. After seeing Anna, Gary feels that his dream girl has arrived in his life. However Gary is in great problem as he can see Anna only in his dreams. So he works hard to make his dream a complete example of a perfect relationship and in course of these events he encounters certain unusual characters which give him a ray of hope and a new direction for a satisfying life.
