When Stanley Phillips (John Cusack) receives word that his wife has died on duty in Iraq he is distraught. He is also determined, at least for a time, to not tell his two daughters, Dawn (Gracie Bedarnczyk) and Heidi (Shelan O'Keefe), what has transpired, especially since he simply does not know how to tell them that their mother, whom they love and miss deeply, has died. To this end he decides that the three should embark on a road trip to the amusement park Enchanted Gardens. All of this is simply a postponement of what Stanley must eventually confront and relate to his daughters, and they must get there together.
